The Federal Government has announced a significant investment of $256 million into a new road safety initiative targeting black spots in Victoria. Starting in the 2023-24 period, this initiative will focus on enhancing safety measures at 57 identified hazardous locations throughout the state. The Black Spot program, which has been operational for some time, directs funds towards the installation of safety measures in areas with a history of significant accidents or those deemed high-risk. The government believes that these projects will substantially reduce serious injuries and fatalities on Victorian roads, aligning with the state’s goal of zero lives lost on roads by 2050.
