Strategic futurist to open supply chain conference

With the theme “Moving Forward: Supply Chains of the Future” it is apt that Marcus Barber, strategic futurist will be opening the  2008 Supply Chain & Logistics Conference that will be held on Thursday the 31st of July and Friday the 1st of August at the Sofitel Hotel, Brisbane, Queensland.

Marcus Barber is one of Australia’s top value systems specialists. He is the facilitator of the strategic futures block at the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies in Canberra, the premiere management training program for the Department of Defence that brings military personnel from around the globe to a year-long residential strategy training program.

Marcus is the co-presenter on the National Geographic Channel’s TV series “Future Matters”, author of “The Money Tree and How to Grow One - Creating Success in Your Business” and the soon to be completed “Killing Trends: the Graceful Art of Innovation” and is an advisory board member of the recently established Australian Strategic Planning Institute and the Australian Bill of Rights Initiative.

Additional keynote speakers for the conference will include: Professor Alan Harrison, Cranfield Centre for Logistics and SCM in the UK, Dr Robyn Keast from the Australian Centre of Business Research, Michael Mitchell, general Manager, Perkins Shipping Domestics Logistics Services, Dr Jeremy Davey, Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety.

The Supply Chain & Logistics Conference will attract approximately 400 delegates from all over Australia and Internationally through the newly extended program. A large proportion of the delegates will be key decision-makers, capable of influencing debate and decision. Delegates will include chief executive officers, senior executives and management who are involved at all levels of procurement, manufacturing and materials management, and the people responsible for contracting, outsourcing, warehousing and logistics and other supply chain activities in the private enterprise, government (state, local) or public sector business enterprises.

2008 Exhibitors and Partners already confirmed include: Haymans Electrical, OfficeMax, ProcureNet, Logistics Recruitment, Syscan International, Konica Australia, Trades & Labour Hire, Quadrem, Mincom, Manhattan Associates, Schenker, Blackwoods, Open Windows, central Queensland University, Air Road, MEGT and RS Components.
